Luke Frels, Director of Jefferson Choruses

Luke Frels is in his fifth year as Choral Activities Director at TJHSST. Prior to teaching at Jefferson, he served for two years as Associate Choral Director at Ryan High School in Denton, TX. Choirs under the direction of Mr. Frels have consistently received superior ratings at state and national festivals. Mr. Frels holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University where he studied choral conducting with Dr. Jerry McCoy. He earned his Masters Degree in Voice from San Jose State University, where he studied with Joseph Frank and Charlene Archibeque.

Mr. Frels has performed professionally with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Orpheus Chamber Singers, New Texas Music Works, Opera San Jose, and the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, under conductors such as Robert Shaw, Dennis Shrock, Lloyd Pfautsh, Jerry McCoy, Charlene Archibeque, Jo-Michel Schiebe, Allen Crowell, and Craig Hella Johnson. He sings locally with the Choir of Christ Church, Georgetown. Mr. Frels was born in Victoria, Texas and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
